Playing 4 Suits Spider Solitaire — Your Layout

There are 104 cards used in all Spider Solitaire games, and the 4 Suits variant is no different. Consider 4 Suits Spider Solitaire to be the hardest level you can play of the Spider Solitaire variants. Most people who play this version are passionate players. Unlike the medium-level difficulty of the 2 Suits Spider or the easy-paced traditional 1 Suit Spider Solitaire, the 4 Suits variant will consume you — in a good way! The layout of the 4 Suits Spider Solitaire game is very simple, with the Tableau and the Stockpile. However, the process of winning is where you will be tested.

  • 1.The Tableau

The space taking up more than 80% of the layout’s landscape is the Tableau. With 10 columns of cards, it may seem that both decks of cards used in the game are already laid out. However, only 54 cards of the 104 are used in the Tableau at the beginning. The first four columns have 6 cards each, while the remaining six columns have 5 cards each. Except for the last card in the columns, all the others face down.

  • 2.The Stockpile

The remaining 50 of the 104 cards are stacked in the Stockpile. The Stockpile is every Spider Solitaire player’s pet peeve — it’s really annoying to use, yet you really need it! First-time players, here’s a word of caution: be wary of drawing from the Stockpile. Reach into the Stockpile only if you’re sure you need to!

    The Stockpile

No Wastepile. No Foundation. Simple.

4 Suit Spider Solitaire requires you to organize four suits! Engage every brain cell to carefully organize all the suits.

  • 2.The Stockpile can be both your friend and your foe. Draw from the Stockpile only when no Tableau moves are possible. Every time you draw from the Stockpile, a set of 10 cards is unraveled and placed face-up on the Tableau, one in each column. A draw from the Stockpile can block your current game plan or hinder all future strategies.

Winning Tips and Quirky Tricks

  • The UNDO Feature Challenge

The biggest flex for a Spider Solitaire player is if they can complete games without using the UNDO feature. But in case you do need it, it’s there! The UNDO button on our platform is perfect for any level of player. It isn't cheating if the game rules allow it!

  • Stay Focused On The Big Picture

While it’s important to focus on building your suits, remember that the whole Tableau comes into play. Take stock of all the cards you have in your arsenal before you think about building a suit. This process will help you develop better strategies.

  • Build Your Suits from the Beginning

One of the best tips is to build a suit from the very beginning. Take stock of the Tableau as you’re building it. Continuously doing this will keep your game balanced and increase your chances of winning.

  • Clean and Organize

Strategizing is a messy business. As a strategic player, you may quickly apply strategies and end up moving cards around haphazardly. However, every now and again, take time to clean up your stacks and organize them properly. This cleanup will help you think clearly when you have to formulate new strategies.

  • Your Stockpile Use

Use the Stockpile only if you absolutely need a fresh set of cards. If the Stockpile releases a completely new set of cards and blocks every column, you may lose the entire game in one sweep. So have a fail-safe before you access your Stockpile.
